Glengarriff is one of the
oldest tourist holiday
destinations in Ireland. A seaside village, it is well
known for its natural beauty and exceptionally mild
climate. The effect of the Gulf Stream, and the extreme
shelter afforded by Bantry Bay makes Glengarriff home to a
variety of sub-tropical plant life. Angling - A
fine choice of sea, river or lake angling.
Hill-walking / Forest Walks – Glengarriff has one
of the oldest oak forests in Ireland, and there are both
walks in the National Park, and on the Beara Way as a
means to explore these beautiful surrounds.
Entertainment – a selection of music played in
local pubs and Irish dancing.
Golf – The golf course in Glengarriff is one of
the most scenic golf courses in the country.
Sea Kayaking - By arrangement, guided tours
around the shelter of this beautiful inlet of Bantry
Bay. Meet the seal colony, and discover a wealth of bird
and marine life.
Bicycle Hire
Visitor Attractions - Garinish Island, renowned
for its’ tropical & Italian gardens, lies just
off-shore, within ½ mile of Glengarriff village. It is
on Garinish Island that George Bernard Shaw wrote ‘Joan
of Arc’.

many points of ancient history around Glengarriff, and
most are easily accessible as part of the marked Beara
Way walking route.
